Building a blog from scratch for millions of visitors is a wild ride. Backdroid.com, my Android tech blog, went from a tiny seedling to a massive resource with over 6.8 million views in just a few years. Here’s the story of how I did it, the mistakes I made along the way, and the lessons learned.

Before backdroid, I had worked on androidsty.in, palinews.online, indiawebguide.in , and 9+ Blogspot domains ( Google )
I had made thousands of mistakes, like migrating websites, etc. It all started back in June 2020, right after my boards were over.
I used to pay 140 INR every month for web hosting from Hostiware. NOW HERE IS HOW MY JOURNEY WENT from getting 10 visitors a day to 1 Lakh 37 thousand visitors.
Backdroid.com is a leading technology blog dedicated to providing in-depth Android tips, app reviews, tutorials, and analysis of the latest mobile trends. This report highlights the site’s performance from its launch in 2020 through the end of Q1 2024.
Since its inception just a few years ago, backdroid.com has rapidly emerged as an authoritative voice in the Android community. Through consistently publishing valuable, technically-substantive content, the site has amassed an impressive readership and established itself as a go-to resource.
Traffic Growth
Backdroid.com‘s traffic has grown exponentially year-over-year:

- 2020: 6,877 views
- 2021: 348,409 views
- 2022: 5,871,209 views
- 2023: 516,538 views
- 2024 (Q1): 35,930 views
The site hit an all-time high of 5.8 million views in 2022, showing its content resonates with Android enthusiasts globally. While 2023 saw a cooldown, early 2024 numbers indicate a promising resurgence is underway.

The first year and a half were a content creation frenzy. I churned out nearly 200 blog posts, experimenting with different formats and topics. While some were hits, others just didn’t resonate. That’s when I learned the importance of focusing on high-quality content that truly addressed user needs.

As I continued to write and publish more frequently, I noticed our content climbing up the search engine ranks. It was incredibly rewarding to see our hard work paying off as more and more people discovered and engaged with our articles, guides, and reviews.
However, the journey wasn’t all smooth sailing. In September 2022, Google rolled out a core algorithm and spam update that hit us hard. Our website experienced a huge dip in traffic seemingly overnight. It was a tough blow after all the effort we’d put into growing Backdroid.com.

But I didn’t let it discourage me. Instead, I took it as a learning opportunity. I dove deep into understanding the updates, analyzing our content, and identifying areas for improvement. It was a challenging period of reassessment and adaptation, but it ultimately made us stronger.
